Psychedelic Integration in Edmonton

Some people come to therapy after a psychedelic experience that was meaningful, confusing, frightening, or difficult to fit back into ordinary life. Integration therapy is psychotherapy focused on making sense of that experience and what, if anything, to do with it.

Recharge Psychology does not provide, prescribe, supply, or administer psychedelic substances or facilitate psychedelic sessions.

What the work actually is

This is individual psychotherapy. We may talk about what happened, what it meant to you, what it stirred up, and what is difficult now. That can include grief, fear, identity, relationships, old memories, or uncertainty about how much meaning or weight to give the experience.

It can also include deciding what not to do with an experience. An intense experience does not automatically require a major life decision.

I don’t assume that a psychedelic experience was either transformative or harmful. We can look at what actually happened and what effects it has had in your life.

If you are considering psychedelic use

Therapy can also provide space to think through your reasons, expectations, concerns, and possible risks. I do not plan or facilitate psychedelic sessions or provide instructions about obtaining or using substances.

Who this may be relevant for

I work primarily with adults in this area. If an older teen has already had a psychedelic experience and needs psychological support, contact me to discuss whether I’m an appropriate fit.

If trauma-related symptoms are the main problem, trauma-focused therapy may be the better frame, with integration as one part of that work rather than the name of the whole treatment.
